That thunderstorm last night scared the phalange out of me!

If any of you have ever watched Friends (or taken anatomy) you have heard the word phalange before. If you've never seen a Friends episode where Phoebe refers to this word, you are truly missing out on great television. Basically, whenever Phoebe wants to make up a name for herself or she doesn't know exactly how to put something into words, she says the word phalange. Sometimes Phoebe will refer to herself as Regina Phalange when she meets new people. (While we are on the topic of Phoebe, check out the Best Music Video Ever)

So for the longest time, I thought this was a made up word that Friends invented. However! I recently discovered just two days ago that phalanges are bones of fingers and toes. We all have phalanges! I found this completely mind-boggling because for about 5 years I thought it was a fake word. Which technically it still is because there is no such thing as a phalange. The singular form of phalanges is phalanx. So for all you who didn't know this, congrats! You learned something new today :)

On a more awesome note, I sent Ellen an email today! My mom has always told me to write her and tell her about my car so that maybe she will buy me new one (because life is just that kind). Well, I didn't write her about that quite yet because I figured I should get my name out there first so she sees me as a friend and not some strange college student who just wants a brand new car. (What would be really nice is if she just fixed the reverse/air conditioning/cold start for my car. I would rather keep it then get a brand new one because it has waay too much sentmental value to be replaced.) So what did I email her about? Well, I was looking through her Funny Signs from Around the World and decided that I had a picture of a funny sign that I could send in to her. Here it is:
I took this picture at an engineering camp that I went to with my brother a couple years ago and I thought this sign was hilariously ironic. So if you go to Ellen's web page in the future and see this, it came from me!

Blogging? Say what?

Yes, it is true. I have begun my own blog even though I never thought I would. I decided to do it because as I was updating my bucket list, I figured creating a blog would be somewhat challenging and something I would like to accomplish. So onto the bucket list it went and here we are now, 1 day later.

So I guess a popular trend is to say what I'm listening to. Well, I'm not really listening to anything but I am watching Ellen DeGeneres on her talk show. I can't even comprehend how she is so ridiculously funny and generous. Love her. Anyway I'll let the thoughts begin:

Creating a title for these things is not an easy task I must say. It was a battle between the title I currently have and "Thinking things through". I think the latter was a good choice as well because I have realized that I think things through...a lot; maybe too much sometimes. I over-analyze things, which can be a good or bad thing depending on how you look at it. I like to view things optimistically so I'm on-board the "it's a good thing" train. However, I did end up picking "Let's be spontaneous." I feel like this describes my life. I love to act on the whim and be unpredictable. By being spontaneous, I feel like I am more likely to behave the way I want instead of what others expect of me. I've seen so many people that act certain ways in order to gain the approval of others. I just don't quite understand why you would want to be someone you're not when God created you to be YOU. Anyway, I don't really know how long a first post is supposed to be but I feel like my 2 cents has become a giant quarter. And I'm not sure how often I will be keeping up with this so please be patient with me :)
Oh and you need to check out this fantastic person's blog: http://www.deeedreamer.blogspot.com/
She has the most awesome insights! :)
