Just Hopping My Way Along

I recently movie hopped and I have to say it was a little too easy. I was hoping for more of a challenge to tell you the truth. My friends and I paid for and saw Charlie St. Cloud and then walked into Inception right after. We were able to see the entirety of each movie and both were fantastic! However, we had to sit in the very front row for Inception because the theater was jam packed. We were sooo close and it was hard to watch considering when a character on the left was talking I had to turn my head to the left. Despite this close-up view, I was able to follow everything that was going on and I considered it an IMAX experience. So basically, not only did we pay for just one movie and see two, we saw two movies and one of them was IMAX. I believe we saved a fortune don’t you? So based on our movie going experience, I came up with some tips for all you novice movie hoppers. Some of the following we didn’t even need because none of the ushers cared enough to watch us come out one theater and walk down the hall to the other.

- Don’t stand out
Try not to look like the sun walking around the movie theater. That means t-shirts with bright colors are a no-no. Also, clothing that hugs your features(ladies you know what I mean) are bad. Workers will see you and your lady figure and watch you walk the path to your second movie, especially male employees. You might as well scream “Hey look at me! I’m pretty and I’m seeing two movies today for the price of one!” No.

- Go to the bathroom or concessions
If you have some time to waste between movies, this is the thing to do. Plus the bathroom is a great place to change your look.

- Avoid eye contact and conversations with employees
Avoid eye contact but don’t avoid it so much that you are basically looking to the ground like your Sherlock Holmes on some murder case. That will bring attention and someone will confront you. Even if it’s just to ask if you have some mental problem or to warn you that your about to run into a wall.
A few tips to avoid contact: search through your purse, talk to the friends/family you came with.

- Don’t be on time
If you’re worried you’ll get caught for your second movie, enter the theater after the previews have started. It’s dark, it’s loud, no one is focusing on the movie-hopper noobs. Nowadays, everyone is late to something. So there’s nothing conspicuous about showing up past the starting time.

- Be confident
Hesitation is a deal-breaker. Look confident about what you are doing, even if you’re not. This is the time to be the actor/actress you’ve always wanted to be.
